Yesterday (Tuesday April 20th) we hosted our first info session. Thank you to everyone who attended and especially thanks to those who asked questions. It is one thing to talk directly to someone and explain what we are doing but it is very different to do it with a group.
A summary of ‘why we are doing EigenSpace’ is now medium post.
EigenSpace is focused on the early-stage gap and demonstrating an excess return for founders over the long term.
Canada needs to support and protect it’s early-stage founders so that they are better prepared for scaling and growing. Proper preparation will lead to larger equity positions and great investment returns for founders. We built EigenSpace to do that. We want to build an organization that is fully aligned with founders. We stand with them. The founder’s outcome is our outcome.
Some questions that came up:
What stage and type of company are we looking for? A. Software business that are early in their journey and B2B is probably ideal given our breadth and depth of experience.
What happens if the company doesn’t work? A. We bet you are going to another company and we would love to support you. We get it is super risky and we have no interest in making things harder on founders.
Does it matter if I am in a different city/country than you? A. No it does not. But at some point in the future there is some value in having the cohort in the same place for a BBQ or something.
We are closing in on selecting cohort 1 and will start the first week of May. That will involve 1-hour meetings with the team and a kick-off workshop on Tuesday May 4th. We do expect to have a full cohort to start and as we said in the info session. That means we are closing our application at midnight ET tonight (April 21st, 2021).
There will be a 15 min zoom chat with the EigenSpace founders on Friday and then we will select our group early next week. Anything that might require a clarifying conversation will happen on Monday or Tuesday next week.
Weekly content will appear on substack that we hope you find interesting. Some of it will be based on our workshops. Some will be on general startup stuff. Our post on business models gives you some idea of what we are thinking.
Thanks for following along! Excited to get started!
